PowerMark: Quiz Bowl Voice — Last updated: August 2026
PowerMark ("the app") is developed by The ICC Firm, Professional Corporation. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it's handled. PowerMark is available on both iOS and Android; where handling differs by platform, that's called out below.
PowerMark does not require account creation, does not collect your name, email, or contact information, and does not use advertising or analytics tracking.
PowerMark uses your device's microphone to let you answer practice questions by voice.
Voice recognition is processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Speech framework. Your audio is never transmitted to Apple's servers, our servers, or any third party.
Your audio is processed using Android's built-in speech recognition service, which — on most devices — transmits audio to Google's servers for transcription and returns text results to the app. This is the same voice-recognition process used by standard Android features like voice search or Google Assistant, and is governed by Google's own privacy policy (available at policies.google.com/privacy).
On both platforms, PowerMark itself does not store, retain, or transmit your audio to our own servers, and you can type answers instead of using voice input at any time.
PowerMark fetches quiz questions and checks submitted answers using the public qbreader.org API. Your submitted answer text is sent to qbreader.org to be checked for correctness. This exchange does not include your name, email, or any other personal identifier — only the answer text itself.
Your app preferences (such as voice selection, reading speed, timer settings, and category/difficulty filters) are stored only on your device using local storage and are never transmitted anywhere.
We do not sell or share any user data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The only external data transmission is the voice-recognition (Android only) and question-answer flow described above.
PowerMark is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
